Hello, last year when I started this page, I wanted to test AWS lightsail as it was pretty quick to setup, and looked pretty cheap. I have been using this service for 1 year, exhausted my free trial, it’s now time to review it in more depth.
Service:
Lightsail is a webhosting service that allows you to setup website in a few clicks, it integrate natively autoscaling solution.
For the experience it delivers, it’s really easy to quickly test a solution, I think my usage in the future might be quickly install a CMS to test it, but not more.
The autoscaling feature looks nice, but other AWS service allows to get to the same result for cheaper with better control.
In my opinion it’s nice to set up testing service quickly, it works also for people who already work in an AWS and want to quickly setup a website while focusing on the backend.
Pros:
The service works really, the setup is super fast, easy. For non technical people who just want a website in place fast, that’s really good.
It’s easy to store assets in aws S3.
Cons:
It’s so expensive, I technically cost me more that a linode instance that will be configured also as easily.
